Check for fixes fails with error message

This is an insignificant issue (your package is so good, insignificant issues are all i ever find) I do not have a paid subscription. When I click on Check for fixes, i get a red popup error:

Cannot retrieve package updates

Something went wrong

I couldn’t reproduce, which version of NethSecurity are you using?

Installed release: NethSecurity 8.7.2-dev+789942c16.20260306165641

I am still on the bleeding edge

I couldn’t reproduce with another dev image but I guess it could be the reason that the updates aren’t working…

I don’t know what you mean by “…it could be the reason that the updates are not working”.

I have never had it tell me there were updates through this feature, and I pretty diligently update to the latest image when it says there is one, and it has been problem-free since you guided me through how to fix it when I had one (and gave me sound advice about running on a .dev release that I continue to ignore).

Sorry for confusion.
The fixes may not work in a dev release. For sure it’s always possible to update to another image.

The fixes provide updates for single packages.

Dev branches get deleted very often and this applies also to older version from the main branch.
So, in the end, this is an expected behavior for dev branches.
If you want to update a dev branch, you should always rely on image upgrade.

More details are hidden somewhere inside the Github Actions

Thanks for clarifying. Among the very serious computer geeks I know, when it comes to using software they weren’t involved in developing, most want to be on the most proven versions. I had a U of California Berkeley PhD, whose advisor was Professor Dave Patterson (consultant to Sun Microsystems in the late 1980s on their first SPARC RISC processor) ask me if he should upgrade from Windows 10 to 11. Among a minority, as I have said in this community, I take the opposite approach with Nethsecurity and Windows where I always upgrade to the latest Canary release.
