Cannot join NethServer to existing Domain

Hi all,

I’ve just downloaded the latest NethServer ISO, because by description it seems like something very usefull… but…
Let’s start from beginning

I have Windows DC on ESXi 7 VM, also Nestserver on another VM in same subnet

DC.mydomain.local - 10.255.10.250
nserver.mydomain.local - 10.255.10.150

now I am trying to connect nserver to existing domain.

Sytem -> Users&Groups->Configure the Account provider->
Active Directory -> Next
Join Existing Domain Controller - Next
Domain Name ->changed default ad.mydomin.local to mydomain.local -> Check

***** Error. Domain name not found

Filled in the AD DNS Server DC.mydomain.local -> Check (next screen opens)
Filled in username “administrator” and password “Passw0rd” (this is Domain administrator with rights to join computers to domain) ->Check

***** Error. Invalid credentials to join domain.

As you can guess, the credentials are good!!

What am I doing wrong

regards

which DNS server is configured in NethServer green interface?

The wrong one, of course!!! :slight_smile:
O.K. domain users apeared correctly, file server is installed, share is created but still cannot connect with file explorer…

any more smart suggestions that will make me feel stupid???

:slight_smile:

Thank you

Been here, done that (mistake), got the t-shirt.

Which version of Windows Server are you using?

2019!

Time to verify the SMB Version…

hm…

how exactly can I do that?

4.10.4 ?!

I guess @pike was speaking about the smb1 or smb2 protocol

I wonder if smb1 has not been dropped by microsoft

Not expert on microsoft and no willing to become it :slight_smile:

Not that recent. Should be SMB v3.1… Take a look on your documentation to how “query” your server about the version.
Then, configure NethServer for use SMB matching.

thank you for your answers!
I think I’ll stick with servers that does not require so much fiddling and work out of the box…

Life is too short for this…

The only thing i found without any learning curve is the light switch. Even unmanaged ethernet switch needs some more information.
