Hello everyone, I have a question, there is a way to change the location of Samba shares, currently it creates in the patch: /var/lib/nethserver/ibay
I would like to allocate the shared folders in a separate /home folder from /
Is there any safe way to do it
I changed smb.conf however every time the smb service is restarted it goes back to ibay .
If you want to change anything in most config files (/etc) you need to use the e-smith system for templating it, at least if you want your modifications to survive a restart of the service or an update.
There IS an easier option for you, well tested by users in this forum:
Use a Symlink!
Rename or move the whole folder /var/lib/nethserver/ibay to whereever you want it (even on a second disk), put in place a symlink, pointing to the new place. That’s all!
-> This folder becomes a symlink: /var/lib/nethserver/ibay, pointing to (for example) /home.
Just make sure your permissions on the new place correspond with the old, then all works!
