With the move to the new my.nethesis.it, the Community subscription plan no longer includes alert notifications. This applies to both NethSecurity and NethServer 8. Systems with a Community subscription don’t forward their alerts to the portal anymore, so the portal sends no notification mail.
Enterprise subscriptions are not affected. They keep forwarding all alerts to my.nethesis.it and receive notifications as usual.
NethServer 8
NethServer 8 can send alert mails by itself, with no portal involved. It mails each alert when it fires and when it is resolved. Just enable Email notifications, then set the recipients in the Settings page, Metrics section.

Active alerts are still shown on the firewall, in the Metrics page and in the notification bell of the web interface. To get them by mail, you have two options:
- Mail alerts straight from the firewall. A small script checks the active alerts every 5 minutes. It sends a mail through the built-in SMTP client when an alert starts or is resolved. Best for a single firewall.
- An external Prometheus stack. If you already run Prometheus, Alertmanager and Grafana, they can collect the firewall metrics through the Telegraf exporter. They can then send the alerts by mail or any other Alertmanager channel. Best when you manage many firewalls.
