Hi guys,
For the last two days I’ve been trying to install and configure NethServer (in short referred as NS).

One Linux Mint 17.1 machine.

I have made up a HOWTO based on the details from @fausp and others. I will edit this if there are fixes to be made. I am trying it out on multiple VMs to make sure I have all the steps documented correctly.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this HOWTO is to show you how to set up remote home directories on a Nethserver network. The client machines used in this HOWTO are Ubuntu 16.04. Other versions or distributions may need some small changes.

I’ve got some confusion about the domain name and the dns configuration. It has to do with the fact that the domain controller sits on a separate virtual host.
When I created the primary host, I named it “ads.company.net ”. With activating the active directory controller I got automatically the virtual host “nsdc-ads.ad.company.net ”.
There is a mail server with an ip of the internal network. Now, should the reverse dns name be “mail.company.net ” or “mail.ad.company.net ”? This question concerns …

Thanks Ctek i’m working on it.
It must be Esxi garbage.
I gonna try to mount a new lab in one host (instead of 2).
To who it might interest, here the how to “Creating an isolated network between two virtual machines ” in VmWare/Esxi host.

Hi @Remy ,
did you set up promiscuous mode on your vmware vswitch?
http://docs.nethserver.org/en/v7/accounts.html#installing-on-a-virtual-machine
The link you provided doesn’t work.

Well,
After deleting/re doing dozen of VM i quit with Esxi.
I donno why it didn’t work as it must do. Certainly a misconfiguration i wasn’t able to solve between my computers.
So i downgrading my lab and test NHS (> joke) with Virtualbox and my notebook and it works like a charm.
Aller, bon week-end !

I am glad you got it to work with virtualbox. Just wanted to say that I actually run ESXi 6.5 with virtual NethServer as gateway with AD and some other services/apps and it works quite stable so basically NS should work on ESXi.
