What are you listening?

Not that I listen to these (sad) songs often but when I do it is hard to stop playing them:

A well known song from Simon & Garfunkel, but versioned and interpreted some years ago by Disturbed:

Another emotional song is “El perdón” by Diana Navarro:

…and greatly improved. The song is very good, but S&G’s performance really doesn’t capture the feeling of the lyrics.

@dnutan you have also seen the version of Henk Poort?
For all non Dutch: Henk Poort is an Opera and Musical singer.

Agree with you, in the cover the song grows and progresses matching the lyrics better driving to emotions.

I didn’t heard it before. Nice, a cover of a cover, giving a slightly different color to the song. I recall hearing him in a duet with Floor Jansen from NightWish, (it was probably in the same besteZangers’ TV show). By the way, in the linked video I heard the true sound of silence (i felt like it was April fools day… finally watched it from another link).

Floor Jansen… @dnutan you make me remember Anette Olzon and the “controversial” way to manage her from NightWish. Happens.
In any case, going to run again The Islander from NW.

I don’t know the whole story behind the controversy but a slightly idea. That’s life, sh*t happens (for the worse or the better) yet ain’t life the greatest show on earth?

Play, more than show. The theatrical one. Sometimes with a crappy script
Petrarca defined “Divine” the Dante’s play but in a “esoterical way”, he described the humanity he knew.

Lyrics with the quebecois accent

Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
- The man is dead
The man is dead

When I try to sleep at night
I can only dream in red
The outside world is black and white
With only one colour dead
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja,
- The man is dead
The man is dead

You can blow out a candle
But you can't blow out a fire
Once the flame begins to catch
The wind will blow it higher
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
- The man is dead
- The man is dead

And the eyes of the world are watching now
Watching now

Sweet child in time
You’ll see the line
The line that’s drawn between
Good and bad

See the blind man
Shooting at the world
Bullets flying
Ohh taking toll

If you’ve been bad
Oh Lord I bet you have
And you’ve not been hit
Oh by flying lead

You’d better close your eyes
Ooohhhh bow your head
Wait for the ricochet

Oooooo ooooooo ooooooo
Oooooo ooooooo ooooooo
Ooo, ooo ooo
Ooo ooo ooo

Oooooo ooooooo ooooooo
Oooooo ooooooo ooooooo
Ooo, ooo ooo
Ooo ooo ooo

Aaaahh aaaahh aaaahh
Aaaahh aaaahh aaaahh
Aahh, aahh aahh
Aah I wanna hear you sing

Aaaahh aaaahh aaaahh
Aaaahh aaaahh aaaahh
Aahh, aahh aahh

The absolutly BEST version of the several live ones in my collection!
All were at their peaks!

Don’t want to leave out the best part do you?
Damn, Ritchie Blackmore is going nuts in this version.

@robb

Hi

You should listen to the song “Strange kind of woman”, on this same live album.
The challenging “Duet” of Ritchie and Ian (Guitar and Vocals) doing the challenge bit…
One against the other, and the public is going bonkers!
Each challenges the other to play the tones the other just played.

Both do an excellent job!

My 2 cents
