What about (security) updates available on the official Rocky repo’s?

There is an open issue currently blocking the upgrade to Rocky/AlmaLinux 9.8 because it can disrupt services:

The current trade-off is stability versus immediate adoption of the latest upstream updates. Until the issue is resolved, the default policy favors preventing service disruption.

Administrators who prefer a different trade-off remain free to upgrade to 9.8 and apply the required workaround.
