Upgrading NS 6.8 on live system to 7

Hi all
I have not been here in some time, I am back with questions as usual. Can an upgrade from NS 6.8 to NS 7 be done on a live running system without crashing it?

Hi Lewis,
Welcome back!

No, you canā€™t!
There is somewhere in this forum more details for ā€œwhy notā€ but I canā€™t find now to show you the path.

You can read more about NS 7, here:

I think that we will work on the 6 -> 7 live update after we release 7 final.

I cant waitā€¦ tackle the problems and errors at hand its the best way to learnā€¦

Better make that a rock solid procedure. I know ā€˜that other distroā€™ has always been struggling with upgrades to new versions. Avoid problems at all cost!

Upstream doesnā€™t support anymore upgrade from 6 to 7:

Andā€¦ whereā€™s that leave us?

:unamused: weā€™ll give it a try, after the backup-restore procedure is finished!

This would be a HUGE ouch if this means that upgrade from NS6x -> NS7.x would mean backup, install from scratch and restoreā€¦
