You can import OVF directly into Proxmox. See:

I was today years old when I learned about the qm importovf command to bring a OVF VM appliance into Proxmox, discussed in passing on their wiki. Everything I’d seen previously said to read the .ovf file by eye, create a VM of matching specs, import the .vmdk file to that VM, etc. But this is much easier: qm importovf 999 /path/to/appliance.ovf storage, replacing 999 with the desired VM ID (make sure it doesn’t conflict with an existing VM), and storage with the name of the storage on which to…
