QNAP CIFS share as external storage in NS8

I want to mount a QNAP cifs share as external storage in NS8 Nextcloud.
Is there still smbclient required and where do I install that ?
What does the parameter ‘share’ mean in the external storage configuration ?
Can anybody help?
It’s too bad that Podman does not work with NFS shares. Serving files would be much easier.

II map both local server shares and remote shares using the “External Storage” feature in NextClaud via CIFS/SMB. It works seamlessly.
