Sincere apologies for the late reply. been out of office. yes this seems to work, so it doesn’t hurt to remove the firewall?
Now I have a new challenge… The proxy won’t authenticate over IE or Chrome in none domain environments. Previously worked very well but not anymore. Please help! Desperate:(
Did you change anything or do updates?
Yes i update every time there’s a new update… Is there a problem with recent updates
I don’t know anything, but I want to find out what has changed.
Please have a look at
/var/log/squid/access.log
after you tried to authenticate.
And could you please post your
/etc/squid/squid.conf
Yes Giacomo i have read that. does it mean IE and Chrome run on NTLM auth?
No, NTLM auth is a OS thing.
When the Windows machine is joined to a domain, it can use NTLM or Kerberos authentication.
But for AD domains, only Kerberos is supported.
Right, so how would you authenticate on a none domain machine?
With Basic Auth: just username and password.
That hasn’t worked at all in my environment… I have had to append "domainname\username"
to authenticate
