************ Welcome to NethServer ************

This is a NethServer installation.

Before editing configuration files, be aware
of the automatic events and templates system.

[root@mail ~]# db accounts show info@aviationacademy.ro
info@aviationacademy.ro=pseudonym
Access=public
Account=info.ssac
Description=Info SSAvC
[root@mail ~]#

EDIT:
Other addresses (created on Friday) from this domain, works.

Your db says that mail for info@aviationacademy.ro goes to info.ssac, but your logs say that it’s going to info@aviationac.
I guess you’ll find some errors in /var/log/messages at the time you created the email address.
I’d propose to re-expand all email configuration files:
signal-event nethserver-mail-server-update

For all accounts created today, the account was truncated in log.

Same error in log.
Reboot?

Have you find an error in /var/log/messages at the email creation time?
A reboot rarely helps.

No, I have no errors.
I have deleted and recreated the accounts. Same things.

I show you only a part (too much lines):

Maybe are too much users, in total?
Is database limited?

No limits. I have systems with more than 500 users and I’ve seen even more than 1000.
I’ve never seen a problem like yours, I’m sorry.

Searching for some trouble shooting docs, I found https://www.linode.com/docs/email/postfix/troubleshooting-problems-with-postfix-dovecot-and-mysql
It doesn’t fit closely to NethServer, but it has some tips that may help.

Give me some time.
I think it is something wrong with the domain.

I created a new user in other existing email domain and works without problems.

I will let you know.

Hi Filippo,

I think is something strange with the users database, at least for this domain.

From the beginning:

As I told you, I created this domain on Friday, when I started to create first four users.
I could send and receive emails from those 4 accounts, instantly.

Today, I continued to create users and email accounts for this domain.

After each account/email address that I created, I always verified if it works.
When I seen that the first created account/email address didn’t work, I deleted the email address and then the user account and I created all, again. Nothing! I could transmit emails but I couldn’t receive. In that moment, I asked for help.

Five hours ago, before leave the office, I created some of the user account and email addresses associated to them. Of course, I could send emails but I couldn’t receive.

When I arrived at home and I checked again, I found received emails in those email accounts.

I created another user account and the email address associated to him. I could send but I could not receive emails! I deleted the email address and then the user account and I wanted to create it again. I get this (please look at the picture). It seems like the database does not refresh.

Please advise me!

Kind regards,
Gabriel

You have to find an error in messages about a failed user deletion.
Would you mind sending me the whole messages?
Upload a zip/tgz somewhere and send me the link. Thanks.

I found the error but it doesn’t help much:
May 30 19:44:42 mail esmith::event[10007]: Account creation failed: error creating a LDAP directory entry: Other (e.g., implementation specific) error.

I think that we need to increase the ldap log level to see more details about the problem.

Can you reproduce the error with a different user?

Maybe we can guess the ldap problem looking at the ldif. Can you send me /var/lib/nethserver/backup/ldap-data.ldif ?

If you teach me how, I will do that!

Only partially, for this domain:
I could create and delete other users without problems.
Only problem is that takes several hours to receive first email. After that, emails are received instantly.

For the other domains that are hosted on NS, none of the above issues.

Please give me a few minutes.

EDIT: Done!

@filippo_carletti

Hi Filippo,

I just made the updates to CentOS 6.8.

After that, I created a new user in aviationacademy.ro and it worked instantly (send and receive emails).

I still get the error regarding deleted user.
Can i delete the record directly (manually) from /var/lib/nethserver/db/accounts?

TIA,
Gabriel

EDIT:

I deleted and recreated this"new user" with no issues.

Yes. That’s what I’d do.

I’ve little experience on ldap and I couldn’t find anything wrong on your ldif.
Next week (tomorrow it’s a public holiday in Italy) I’ll ask for help.
I want to discover what may have gone wrong in your system.

I deleted the record regarding this user, from /var/lib/nethserver/db/accounts.

After that, to be sure (I know it’s not Windows but …), I rebooted the server.

In that file, the user isn’t showing.
From CLI, also:

[root@mail ~]# db accounts show claudia.boanta
[root@mail ~]#
[root@mail ~]#

When I want to recreate this user from UI, the same error: “User name claudia.boanta has been already registered” :rage:

I give up!
Or NOT!

Kind regards,
Gabriel

PS:

For you and for all Italians: HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!

Use:
lgroupdel claudia.boanta

IT WORKS!!!

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,
Gabriel

PS:

Now I can go home!

You’re welcome. It was Giacomo looking at my monitor that noticed that the ldif still contained a group named claudia.boanta. He’s to be credited for the solution.
