Help with connecting to Active Directory

NethServer Version: 7.9.2009
I tried to join my Active Directory Domain with my Windows 8.1 Pro PC.
It says the Domain could not be contacted.

From my limited experience joining Windows AD to Nethserver I did the following:

  1. DNS of the Windows machine must point to the Nethserver install (not AD containter) - might be 192.168.2.192 in your case
  2. Use the FDQN of your AD container - ad.emyu-server.local in your case.
  3. Confirm the Windows machine can resolve/ping the AD container IP - ping ad.emyu-server.local should resolve to 192.168.2.199

I changed my DNS settings, checked 3. (I think success) and used the FQDN. After that I needed to login. I did this and I recieved an error.

Hi, perhaps a wrong error message? You have to be AD-Admin to add the client? Is the user Admin(windows) a AD-Admin?

I can’t 100% remember my problems connecting windows clients but something with the user-rights and wrong message errors… If you think “stupid reply” - ignore my suggestions!

I shitted up my whole configuration, I think I should reinstall my Windows installation.
