App Certification for NethServer 8

To add some more food for thought to the certification processes.

The primary focus is now on app being released, But we also need to take a look at the sustainable quality and usability of an app, aka maintenance…

How can we measure, check and qualify the level of maintenance on a app, even in NethForge, so level 1 and 2? Even level 1 apps deserve a status in this respect.

How do we cope with the maintenance of a (certified) app, so everything inside the containers that make the app(s) work and all (security/maintenance/version) updates on all aspects/parts?

Keywords: Maintained, orphaned (not as in repo not available, but dev no longer updating it), EOL, Fake, not trustworthy, Trojan/malware, defunc etc.

@alefattorini , when time permits, can you help shape this page please?

Currently , software center does not hold level 3 or level 5 applications. Is this correct?

This is an excerpt from my pull request for the Developer’s Manual, which adds information about the Community Certification: ns8-core/docs/modules/certification.md at comcert · NethServer/ns8-core · GitHub. Any feedback is appreciated.

Regarding app and certification maintenance, we cannot fully address this in the current release. It’s a complex issue that will require further analysis and work in the upcoming project milestones.
