Welcome to NethServer Community

Hi Alessio

My name is Kristian and i’m from Sweden. I work as an Infrastructure Specialist and SAP Basis Administrator.

My goals are to be able to translate business, information and application architectures into solutions that are effective in a real world setting.

What motivates me most is knowing what I do makes a difference and pushing solutions to their limit. I enjoy mentoring, inspiring and motivating others to innovate: helping them think outside the box and showing them there are multiple solutions to any problem.

I have found that differences in opinion can be more readily overcome with empathy than by being judgemental or trying to impose my views on others.

I have besides my work a Consultant firm were i help SME and recently decided to change course with a new startup company and heavily focus on pure European Open Source projects and educate SME in maintaining high integrity and Security in there day to day IT struggle when making decisions. For this i need products that can be replace all propriety software.

I have been working with MS products for over 20 years now and the last 7 years I fell in love with open source. Due to the fact that I believe that true security can only be archived with open source systems and therefore i started to search for projects that could help me to archive my goals.

I came here after I have been testing Zentyal server as a replacement and the latest announcement just didn’t convinced me anymore that the product is something i want to invest in. I’m very much interested in the Enterprice versions and of course in the community version to contribute and keep the project going in any way I can.

All the best to you all,
Kris

Hi Alessio,

I’m Andrea from Zero100, Italy. I was at Nethesis Partner Meeting last friday, and besides several compelling topics, and a couple of very unusual high-heeled developers, I got very interested in NethMonitor with its integration between Nagios and OCS. I work mainly on Microsoft, SLES and VMware these days, but I come back to Nagios (usually with check_mk on top) from time to time. I’m after ease of configuration and a pretty interface (and push notification to a mobile app): I see Nagios, Adagios and OCS + New theme are listed as part of the Community Edition:

http://www.nethserver.org/community-or-enterprise/

so I look forward to try them in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for your welcome,

andrea

Hi, I’m Vincenzo Turri from Vicenza, Italy.

I work since 1996 as a IT technician in Geacon and (you can see) … I do not speak English
We are partners Nethesis since 2011. We use NethServer for mail, telephony, messaging, cloud, web and firewall (with two xDSL).
We replaced all customers installations of Exchange with great satisfaction (also thanks to excellent Nethesis supportl)

With the new version, the product has been improved. The console management and active sync… wonderful
Very good job

Hi,

I am Stefan from Melbourne, Australia.

I would like to setup my first server at home. I tried the Zentyal
server first but couldn’t succeed. A comment to the reduced options in
ver. 4.1 brought me to Nethserver.
The documentation is much better and I am reading through but still I am
not sure what I have to do in the right order. But I will figure out

Obligatory reply… LOL

I’m in the US, Deep South Texas (nearly Mexico).
Been in IT half of my life (reformed auto mechanic). Recently replaced a SME server with NethServer and like it very much!

More fluff about me:
I’ve been running a web/mail server here in my home since 1994. First server was a Mac II cx, running Quid Pro Quo and EIMS, and was on a dial-up line.
Also, BOTH of my children are gracing me with grandchildren this year! First is due any day, and the second in December.
