@davidep Just a question a bit out of this topic, does the user davidep@adnethesis.it (for example) is a real user from an unix point of view.

You’re not alone, don’t worry! 
The “unix” point of view is glibc -> /etc/nsswitch.conf -> sss. From this point of view davide@adnethesis.it is a unix user, provided by sss libraries: so you can’t find it in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow.
