I assume that NethServer 6.8 will be patched by the upstream repos in due course?

Or is some extra work required for this?

Patched upstream (CVE-2016-5195):

Install updates and reboot.

Should the updates come through automatically? Or is it a manual patch?

Just answered my own question - performed a “yum update” and the new kernel in question is now installing
