Drupal 8 vhost .htaccess etc

Hi a bit of advice please - has anyone managed to get an operational drupal 8 vhost? im pretty close but not there. I can complete the install which gives me the drupal homepage … any attempt to navigate away from here results in: Not Found The requested URL /admin/config was not found on this server.

I now copy the drupal supplied .htaccess file into docroot … This leads the browser to the nethserver homepage

I figure there is an easy change to the .htaccess file that will fix this but its beyond me at this point so any hints appreciated!.. .htaccess file below

We (@robb, @mrmarkuz and me) had this discussion, with having joomla as a virtual host doesn’t work, at FOSDEM.
I think you have the same problem. The only workaround at this moment is to install joomla or drupal to /var/www/html.

btw i can confirm that drupal 7 install out the box into nethserver… the issue occurs when you go to version 8… Drupal still installs OK (using Steph’s PHP repo) but site navigation fails.

I took a look at the posted .htaccess but I can’t say which is the problematic part without testing it.

Probably I will have time to look at it next week.
By the way, if someone can give me SSH and HTTP access to a machine with the problem, maybe I can try to find a quick fix.

Maybe not related, but I tried to install other webbased applications in a vhost, but ran into CSS problems. It looks like as soon an application is not installed in /var/www/html, ‘something’ breaks…

You’re right, is of course a problem of httpd configuration, but you can confront /etc/httpd/conf.d/virtualhosts.conf with suggested Drupal configuration and it’s basically the same.

I guess that if you follow CentOS standard howtos, and put everything on /var/www/html it should work.

Sorry but I don’t have a solution, you need to dive deep into Apache configuration hell :smiley:

Did you manage to install drupal on vhost or is the generall recommendation to install within /var/www/html instead of /var/lib/nethserver/vhost/xxx ?

In that case, I would find vhost system a little say limited as a lot of web application are quite similar to drupal / joomla… (wordpress seems)

Did anybody try out e.g. piwik?

I think this is a VERY valid remark and maybe should be addressed and explained some way. It would clarify a lot for anyone who wants to install a web application on NethServer (or create a module for a web application)

yes, thats exactly what I was supposed to:
three websites (www, intranet and piwik) running on/as Nethservers vhosts with Drupal, Drupal and Piwik :slight_smile:

btw: I like the option “Allow access from trusted networks only” for vhost very much as this allows to set up an http://intranet or similiar (which was not possible for Zentyal :stuck_out_tongue: )

I can say from experience that Joomla works fine in a vhost, but I haven’t tried the others.
