Backup to Dropbox Pro account

Hello All,
the following is our first post and would like to take the chance to extend our thanks for your precious help and support.

By the way, we’re now wondering whether our nethserver-based server can be backed up to our Dropbox Pro account. A daily sync is not needed. We would simply like to get a copy of our personal folders from server to dropbox, as a second backup, maybe once a week.

We’ve been reading something concerning the use of owncloud and additional apps but could not get the hang of it.

Could you please help us out?

Thanks in advance

We use Duplicity for the backup, which already supports Dropbox.

Here is the man page: http://duplicity.nongnu.org/duplicity.1.html

You can start hacking this script: /etc/e-smith/events/actions/backup-data-duplicity

Thanks for your prompt reply Giacomo.

Would it be possible to have kind of an easy step-by-step guide to get the job done? That would be much appreciated!

We have roughly ten share folders - with a bunch of subfolders - which would like to back up to dropbox. That’s it.

Many thanks.

Hello again,
here we are again.

Is there anybody who can give us support? Thanks!

Unfortunately, we don’t have a step-by-step guide, you need to make some tests! Please post here your attempts maybe there would be someone who can help

I think that a good starting point could be my backup-data-cloud script. It may even work out-of-the-box, changing the backup url to dropbox.
